The Maltese Breed
The Maltese breed is known for their gentle manner and affectionate personality. They are playful not only as puppies but also as adults. According to the AKC Maltese breed standard the ideal weight for an adult dog is less than 7 pounds with 4 to 6 pounds preferred. They are playful and friendly to all they meet. The Maltese are non-shedding as well as hypoallergenic and keep themselves very clean. They are a lapdog that loves to please and does well with basic obedience. As Maltese breeders in Illinois, it is our goal to raise happy healthy Maltese puppies for sale that will fill the spot of best friend to their new owners. Since the Maltese is small, they do not need much room to run. They are well suited for small living spaces and can be potty trained to a potty pad, litter box, or outside. Maltese are people dogs and accustom themselves easily to household routines. The exercise a Maltese gets inside the house is sufficient, although a walk or trip to the park is something they always enjoy. Care should be taken with Maltese and very young children. Since Maltese are small, they could be injured with rough handling. This is especially important with Maltese puppies or with adult Maltese who are very small. A larger Maltese puppy or adult would be preferred for a family with young children. We do not use the terminology "teacup Maltese" or "toy Maltese" when describing unusually tiny Maltese. This terminology is ambiguous and can be very misleading to one wishing to purchase a tiny Maltese puppy. The intelligent Maltese breed is great just as a companion dog. However, they can also be trained for many different uses as service dogs. For the owners who wish to compete with their Maltese, obedience events, agility or flyball competition are available in many parts of the country. Maltese are well suited for people of all ages. The wag of a friendly tail and the offering of a paw can bring sunshine into any heart. The affectionate Maltese with its devoted manner could fit into any home where a dog with a bubbly, happy personality is desired. This sweet, playful dog will weave its way straight into your heart.
